CoachPool.app

Guide & best practices

Getting started

Using the app

Add a pool/spa : from the ⋮ menu at the top of the home screen, choose "Add pool/spa" to launch the assistant — it walks you through the type (pool/spa), dimensions and volume. Each pool then shows up as a card on the home screen, with its water quality, weather and quick actions.

Water log : record your test results (pH, chlorine, alkalinity...) based on your testers. The app computes an overall quality score and shows which parameters it's based on.

Product tracking : log products you've poured in, or enable stock management to track your supplies and get an alert when a product is running low.

Maintenance : log your maintenance work (filter backwash, skimmer cleaning...) from a customizable catalog.

Analysis & Advice : follow how your parameters change over time on a chart, with an overall diagnosis and customizable targets.

Notifications : set up reminders (testing, maintenance) and alerts (degraded quality, low stock) per site or per pool, and check their history via the bell icon at the top of the home screen.

Settings : change the language, units (metric/imperial), and manage your account from the ⋮ menu.

Good to know

  • Water temperature : on each pool card it appears under the water quality as soon as an analysis contains one (the last known reading is kept, shown with its date after 2 days).
  • Share the water status : in the Water log, the share icon sends a message with the latest analysis and the water quality.
  • 3D view : tap the drawing of the pool to enlarge it; its colour reflects the water quality.
  • Sanitary log (Premium and PRO) : from the Water log, generate a PDF or Excel register of the tests, products and operations of a period, with a "Checked by" box to sign. It is not a compliance certificate: check the obligations in your country.
  • Reminders : allow the device notifications to receive test, maintenance and stock reminders.

Pro mode: sharing & collaborators

Pro mode lets you share access to your pools with other people (employees, partners), each with different permissions.

Three roles available:

  • Admin : full access, can invite/remove collaborators and change their permissions.
  • Editor : can view and edit all data (tests, maintenance, products...), but can't manage members.
  • Viewer : read-only, no changes possible.

Inviting someone : from the ⋮ menu on the home screen, open "Members" (visible only to an admin), then "Invite": enter the email address and pick a role. The person will see an invitation the next time they log into the app (they must sign in with that same email address).

Managing access : a "Shared" badge appears on each pool card once there's more than one member — tapping it opens the list of people with access, with the option to change their role or remove their access.

Important : an account can only belong to one organization at a time. If a collaborator also wants to use the app for their own personal pools, they need to use a different email address for personal use.

Water care best practices

Water balance

pH should stay between 7.0 and 7.4: too low, the water becomes corrosive to equipment and irritates skin/eyes; too high, chlorine loses effectiveness and the water turns cloudy. Free chlorine should be 2-3 mg/L for a pool (1.2-3 mg/L for bromine), 2-4 mg/L for a bromine spa. Alkalinity (TAC) should stay between 80 and 120 mg/L: it stabilizes pH and prevents it from swinging too fast. Test these three parameters at least once a week, more often during hot weather or heavy use.

Water balance

Weekly maintenance

Every week : run the robot or skimmer net to remove debris, brush the walls and waterline to prevent limescale and biofilm buildup, clean the skimmer basket and check filter pressure (a clogged filter reduces filtration and strains the pump). Simple rule: the more the filtration runs, the better — good water circulation limits algae growth and helps the disinfectant reach every corner of the pool. Run it at least 8-12h a day in summer, less in winter. Regular backwashing of a sand filter extends its lifespan.

Weekly maintenance

Shock treatment & chloramines

Shock treatment means adding a large dose of chlorine (or active oxygen) to destroy chloramines — the compounds responsible for the sharp chlorine smell and eye irritation, which build up once combined chlorine exceeds 0.6 mg/L. A shock is recommended after heavy bather load, a storm, or if water stays cloudy despite correct chlorine levels. Wait for chlorine to drop back to a normal level before swimming (usually 24h, or check with a test).

Shock treatment & chloramines

Winterizing & season opening

When winterizing, clean the pool thoroughly, balance the water one last time, and depending on your method (active or passive winterizing) reduce filtration or add a winterizing product. Protect equipment from frost. When reopening, clean again, restart the filtration system gradually, and retest every parameter before swimming — water usually needs a full rebalance after months of inactivity.

Chemical storage & safety

NEVER mix different chemical products together (especially chlorine and acid): the mix can be toxic or even explosive. Store each product in its original packaging, out of children's reach, in a dry, ventilated space away from sunlight. Always add the product to the water, never the other way round. Wear gloves when handling concentrated products.

Quick troubleshooting

Cloudy water : check filtration first (runtime, filter cleanliness) then pH and chlorine — low chlorine is the most common cause. Green water: a sign of algae, needs a shock treatment followed by an algaecide, with filtration running continuously until it clears. Strong chlorine smell: counter-intuitively, this usually signals a LACK of active chlorine (chloramines) rather than too much — see the shock treatment section.

Going further

Discover Premium

The free tier is limited to 1 site with 1 pool, and sharing to 1 person. Premium unlocks up to 20 sites (50 pools each), 5 members to share access with (plus extra packs), e-mail reminders, the sanitary log (PDF/Excel with signature) and the export of your data as CSV and PDF (test log, 2D/3D pool sheet...). Ideal if you look after several personal or family pools, without the professional tools of PRO mode.

Discover PRO Mode

PRO mode turns the app into a professional tool : up to 5000 sites, access shared with a whole team (Administrator / Editor / Reader roles), planning and rounds of visits with a time-spent timer, quotes (with deposit invoices), work orders and invoices (credit notes, payment reminders, receivables, payment by link or QR), recurring maintenance contracts, the equipment of each pool, sanitary log, stock management, dashboard, accounting export and e-mail notifications. On activation, an activity model suggests a setup suited to your trade — editable at any time from PRO settings.

PRO activity models

Once in PRO mode, an activity model adapts the app to your trade in one click (editable at any time from PRO settings). The guide then shows concrete scenarios for your model:

  • Independent pool technician : from quote to invoice (with deposit), maintenance contracts, visit reports, reminders and receivables, equipment, profitability.
  • Facility manager : follow a technical team across all your sites (hotel, campsite, gym...), sanitary log for inspections, planned works and dashboard, without invoicing.
  • Private owner with several homes : several personal pools (site main, secondary...) followed remotely, with e-mail alerts, without the professional tools.
  • Property manager / co-ownership : quotes for common areas, planning per site, shared stock and the sanitary log of each building.
  • Complete : all modules active to build your own organisation.

Your scenarios, based on your activity model
